The Ultimate List of 26 Best Things to Do in Paris in 2023

Paris! A dream city for many.
I have been dreaming of visiting Paris for years, and recently, the day finally came. It was May, and Paris was taking a shift from chilling weather to summer, one of the most fantastic times to visit Paris.
Paris is known for its charming architecture and rich history. I spent a week in Paris and had the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful places. If you plan to spend your next holiday in this lovely city, here is the ultimate list of the 26 best things to do in Paris.

1. Views from Eiffel Tower

Eiffel Tower is the most popular tourist hotspot in Paris. It is not just known for its architectural supremacy but also offers panoramic 360° views of the city. Ensure you enjoy this scenic view when you go to the Eiffel Tower. There are three floors in the Eiffel Tower, the first, the second, and the top. The first floor has restaurants, bars, and shops, the second floor also has shops, and the top floor has a champagne bar. As the structure keeps slimming down towards the top, your shopping and eating options also keep going down.

2. Seine & Sunrise

The Seine is a river in northern France; it's 777 kilometers long, flowing through Paris into the English Channel at Le Havre. It's a beautiful place to take long walks and enjoy the sunrise and sunset. You should definitely take advantage of this beautiful view. There's a walking path along the river; you can take the path and keep walking alongside the river, enjoying the view of historical monuments like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and various museums. For the best views, consider going to Pont Alexandre III point.

3. Picnic at the Eiffel Tower

Since Eiffel Tower is the tallest building in Paris, it can be viewed from many different spots. One of my favorite places to have a great view of the Eiffel Tower is Champ de Mars. It's a park right in front of this historic landmark and a great place to picnic, have some sunshine, and enjoy the view. Picnic is definitely one of the best things to do in Paris

4. Shopping at Bouquinistes' Stalls

If you have been following me on Instagram, you know that I love souvenirs. To be at a place and experience it like a local is an excellent opportunity for any traveler, and keeping a memory of it is really special. I am sure you, too, love taking back souvenirs from your holiday destination; hence, Bouquinistes' Stalls is the best place to find the most Parisian goodies. From books to artwork, the stalls have everything you might need.

5. Enjoy Opera at Palais Garnier 

This classic Opera House from Paris is a stunning monument not popular among tourists. Embellished with striking gold accents, this awe-inspiring structure was built in the 1800s. You can book a lovely opera evening at Palais Garnier or simply visit for a tour. 

6. Medieval Island of Ile de la Cité

It is located at the heart of Paris and is one of the two small islands in the city. Ile de la Cité was the original place of establishment for the medieval city. Its historical importance makes it a famous and oldest region in Paris. Notre Dame de Paris, one of the world's most well-known cathedrals, is also built on this island.

7. Stained Glass at Sainte Chapelle

Sainte Chapelle is known for having one of the world's finest Stained Glass displays. Built-in the 13th century, the Chappelle is also found on Ile de la Cité. You can combine your visit to Notre Dame with your visit to Sainte Chapelle. PS: Don't miss Notre Dame. Visiting the place is one of the best things to do in Paris.

8. Prison of The Conciergerie

A neighbor of Sainte Chapelle, The Conciergerie is where French revolutionaries detained Marie Antoinette and several others. This was the place they were held as prisoners before they were executed. The Conciergerie stayed a significant place of detention during the French Revolution.

9. History of Place de la Concorde

The Place de la Concorde is one of the central public squares in Paris. It was used as an execution site. Marie Antoinette, King Louis XVI, & other prisoners were brought to Place de la Concorde for execution by guillotine. This massive round square is located between Champs-Elysees and Tuileries Garden. You also get a zoomed-out view of the Arc de Triumph from Place de la Concorde.

10. Enjoying on The Big Wheel 

Place de la Concorde has a giant Ferris Wheel with a stunning town view. Tourists visiting Paris from November end to May should consider getting a ride.

11. Tourist Hotspot- Champs-Elysees

It is definitely one of the most popular tourist spots in the city. This street connects Place de la Concorde with Arc de Triomphe, a must-visit spot on our list. There are also many macaron stores here; make sure you stop for a bite. Champs-Elysees is also a shopping paradise for shoppers; there is always something for everyone. You can also browse through many renowned French brands. 

12. Far-Reaching Views from Arc de Triomphe

Arc de Triomphe offers some of the best views of Paris city. From Eiffel Tower to La Defense, everything is easily visible from this spot. The best time to visit is at night when the city's nightlights sparkle like stars in the sky.

13. Walk in Tuileries Gardens

A lovely place to unwind and enjoy beautiful nature. There are so many fragrant blooms, especially in summer and spring. You can combine a visit to Tuileries Gardens with Louvre.

14. Louvre- Treat Your Inner-Artist!

Visit the world's largest art museum- The Louvre, originally home to French royalty. In the 18th century, it was converted into a museum home to famous artworks, namely Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, etc. I recommend booking the tickets in advance and spare at least 3-4 hours for one visit.

15. The Secret of the Passages 

Paris is lined with numerous indoor passages, which are basically lanes connecting different spots. These are lined with various cafés and boutique shops. The glass roof and mosaic flooring with the vintage décor surely enhance its overall look.  

16. Coffee at a Parisian Café

Every street in Paris is home to small cafés with beautiful terrace spaces. You can get a table on the rooftop and enjoy your coffee while looking at the alluring views. It is simply one of the best things to do in Paris.

17. Montmartre: The Bohemian District 

Montmartre is a popular Parisian district. Its unique bohemian style will take you back to the 19th century. It's home to the prettiest street in Paris; moreover, you will find pretty and adorable houses, cafes, and many artists selling their excellent pieces of artwork. Montmartre is a quiet and peaceful place to spend a day in Paris.  

18. Fabled Moulin Rouge & Performances

Wish to have a fun evening? Then head straight to Moulin Rouge. It runs world-famous Can-Can Dancing acts. Started in 1889, the location is famous for its cabarets.

19. The Royal Country House- Versailles 

King Louis XIV made Versailles the royal chateau in 1682, which remained the seat of government for a century. But the start of the French Revolution brought this title back to Paris. You can take a train from Paris and spend a day in Versailles. When you visit Versailles, take a pleasant, relaxing stroll in the vast gardens. 

20. Try a Classic Parisian Breakfast

The traditional Parisian breakfast features delicious tea/ coffee or orange juice with bread, jam, and cheese/yogurt. It is completed with a pastry like Pain au chocolat or croissant. 

21. Street-Style Crepes! 

Just like numerous cafés, there are also many food stalls that sell tasty crepes all around the city. These make perfect and inexpensive snacks for sightseeing or commuting.

Paris is the origin of numerous world-famous desserts and baked items. These roadside stores have everything from basic cakes and pastries to classic tarts au citron. Make sure you try Saint-Honoré, Baba-Au-Rhum, Paris-Brest, and other Parisian delicacies. 

23. Impressionist Art Collection of Musee d’Orsay

Featuring the biggest Impressionist Art Collection, Musee d'Orsay has creations of globally renowned artists like Van Gogh, Moet, Cezanne, and more. The building was initially an old train station, which was renovated to make this museum of art. If you love art, this is a must-visit.

24. Biking Through Paris

The city offers multiple public transport services, and biking, among these, is one of the popular picks of tourists. You can rent a bike to ride in the town and get a closer look at Parisian architecture and style. This way, you can explore the city like a local, visit the little, pretty streets, and try local Parisian delicacies.

25. Visiting the Wall of Love

The Wall of Love is also called- 'Le Mur des Je T'aime' (fancy, right?). It is a huge blue wall with "I Love You" written in 250 different languages! If you are going to Paris for your honeymoon or just a trip with your partner, you should certainly visit this spot. Yeah! It's pretty romantic. 

26. Take an Electric Boat in Canal de l'Ourcq

Rent a fun electric boat and enjoy a unique view of Paris from the Canal de l'Ourcq. You can sail the boat yourself, and it is a great way of getting all your friends and family together in the activity.

Paris has a lot to offer; it's a city of magnificent architecture, impressive history, and gorgeous artworks, and, more importantly, it's the city of love.
